Researching my family’s history is an ongoing process. What I have found until now is nowhere near as complete as it could be, but I’ve put it online anyway.

      Hi Adam!

You know, I don’t think you are included. Where are you from? I’m assuming you’re from the US, judging by the time you wrote the comment :)

I know that a branch of the Hafkenscheid family moved to the US, but I don’t know exactly who. Do you have any information on your ancestors? We might be able to find a match!

      Kind regards,
      Maurits

Adam, the email address you supplied was not valid so you won’t have received my initial answer. Hopefully you’ll come back and read this :)

  2. Hello, I believe we are related. My 2nd great grandmother was Henrica Carolina Maria Hafkenscheid. You do not have her name on your tree, but you do have her father. Her father was Henricus (Henrich) son of Christian Franziscus. She married Hermanus Abbink in Ohio, USA in the late 1840’s and they moved to Illinois after the birth of their first child, and the family has stayed in this area ever since, including myself. I’m not sure if she moved to the USA with her family or not, but given her young age when she married Hermanus, Im assuming she did come with her parents. Cannot locate a census for any Hafkenscheids for 1850, 60, etc. in Ohio but have found later evidence of Hafkenscheids in Ohio but cannot figure out where the connection is since there is a gap.

      Hi Kathy!

This is great news! I will publish Henrica shortly in the tree, and I would be much obliged if you could provide me with any information you have, so that can be published as well. Publication may help in finding the missing link…

      Kind regards,
      Maurits
